Blocks do not line up nubs won’t interlock
- check top and bottom blocks interlocking for foreign material
- check ends for straight 90° cuts
- check course below for straight 90° cuts on the ends
- check nubs for compressions
- check blocks to be sure cuts are on cut lines
- be sure tied rebar isn’t pushing block apart
Cut lines are apart by one line
- start looking close to problem first, then proceed outward
- check course below for incorrect splice cut (double check cut line counts)
- check course for correct web alignment
- check for block with non-factory end placed as a factory end
- check to see if window or door bucks are pushing blocks out
- check for telescoping corners
Bottom two courses are not level
- check footing
- check trimming/shimming
- check for foreign material between block and footing/slab
First course splices are between cut lines
- determine if walls will be OK if pushed slightly out or sightly in
- decide if you want a vertical seam
Horizontal rebar missing in one course
- determine if it is required or extra
- determine if you can remove the upper course and install
- determine if you can cut a hole in closest 90° corner and feed through to proper placement. Be sure to foam or brace hole prior to concrete placement.
Window lintel blocks cut the same as the window below won’t come together
- block may be cut too close to window buck
- corner may have “telescoped” out
- block may be incorrectly cut
