If the next story will be built with Greenblock, or there are decks, install any necessary ledgers before placing concrete.
TIP: By checking plumb to the cut lines, you will be able to look at the intersecting areas and tell if your wall telescopes in, out, or has remained true.

Ledger with anchor bolts
- Install blocks one course above proposed floor height
- Snap chalk lines, top and bottom, of proposed rim ledger.
- Cut opening in EPS as per engineering. Angle top and bottom cuts to ensure proper concrete placement.
- Cut rim. Use ledger for consistency.
- Install anchor bolts, washers and nuts.
- Using coarse threaded screws attach rim ledger to the webs
- Be sure all anchor bolts can be pushed entirely into the wall for proper concrete coverage.
- Tighten nuts after concrete is cured.
- Attach joist hanger according to specifications from manufacturer.
There are numerous alternate ledger systems available, such as: Simpson Ledger Connection System

After the pour Install ledger:
Wood
- Slip ICFLC-W underneath the ledger board
- Attach the 6 screws partially into the ledge, starting at the bottom of the ICFLC-W
- Position the ICFLC-W with the ledger up against the ICFLC and drive the screws through the wood and the ICFLC
Steel
- Position the steel ledger up against the ICFLC and drive the required number of screws through the steel ledger into the ICFLC
- All screws should be located at least ½ inch from the edge of the ICFLC
- Space screws evenly
Floor connections may also be made using Greenblock’s 8” concrete core block on the lower level, installing the top block for the last course, then installing Greenblock’s nominal 6” concrete core block from there up.
You can also use beam pockets or brick ledge blocks for ledger systems or for supporting beams.
If the upper floors are to be built with wood, you can use top blocks for the last course.
- Screed concrete level with top of blocks
- While concrete is wet, install anchor bolts as per specifications
- Be sure to calculate rim joist or exterior of wall so anchor bolts are placed correctly
- After it is dry install a gasket seal
- Install treated sill plate
If you want to recess the sill plate in the wall so that it is even with the top of the forms build a trowel out of 2x’s and plywood to screed/form the concrete 1 ½” lower then the top of the forms.
- While concrete is wet, install anchor bolts as per code
- After it is dry install a gasket seal
- Install treated sill plate

NOTE: A Greenblock panel brick ledge may be used in many of the above instances.
